Sorcha, Juggernaut and a lone widowmaker

So, a lot has happened since my last update, in short: my computers and photo equipment got stolen, I may or may not have Ménière's disease and I became a father to my first child - my son Jakob. But the blog is not really about all that, and I finally got the time to paint a little bit again.

I've decided to "speedpaint" my Khador army, this will be my first attempt at speed painting and I hope the result will be my first fully painted army. The paint scheme is pretty simple, lots of red along with the green-grayish-brown Charadon Granite. Some bronze and silver metallic for the bits and pieces and a snowy white base.

Widowmaker prototype
First up was a widowmaker prototype, which presented the first problem: a good camouflage colour to match the scheme, I settled for a light grey, drybrushed up to white.

Next up was a Juggernaut warjack, I think the scheme turned out all-right if a bit harlequin-esqe, I may experiment more with the colour of the armour plates on the legs but for now it will do. I had some trouble figuring out how to highlight the Charadon Granite, I've done some "fine" edge highlights with codex grey but I think there may be a better way.

Juggernaut
Usually I agree that white bordered bases look poor, but I think they really compliment these models. The Ice Axe was made with Hawk Turquoise, drybrushed irregularly with Ice Blue and white. I plan to paint all weapons with the Critical Freeze special rule in this manner as a visual aid.

I used bronze for moveable and intricate metal parts and silver for rods, spikes and other simpler bits.

Finally I painted Sorcha from the battlebox, oh boy she is tiny compared to the space marines and Warhammer mineratures I usually paint.

I think she turned out quite nice, with a bit more red and less gray than planned but I guess that's all right for the Warcaster. Next up are the last three widowmakers and after that either a Destroyer or some winterguard. I bought a quite a bit of used Khador miniatures, but most of them still need assembly and primer.
